Our History

Our charity was founded in 1991 by a group of local people who had experienced heart attacks or who were suffering from heart health problems. The basic concept of Wirral Heart Beat was - and still is - to provide those often vital "extras" for which NHS funding is not always readily available.

Other projects have included the purchase of:

  * Exercise cycles, treadmills and similar equipment * Sound systems for the Centre's exercise suite

  * Echocardiogram Ultrasound System * Computerised projection equipment

  * Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitors

And the funding of research into heart disease within the Wirral Heart Support Centre. Details of this research can be made available by contacting Wirral Heart Beat.

Additionally, money has been raised to assist the Centre's staff to attend specialist training courses in the United Kingdom and overseas.

Wirral Heart Beat markets a full range of "branded" merchandise including Lapel Badges, Pens, Key Fobs, Flash Fobs, Bookmarks, Sweat Shirts, Polo Shirts, Rugby Shirts and T-Shirts, which are available for sale in The Wirral Heart Support Centre and at fund raising events.
